BIO: Kruger came from a single-mom home where working and caring for her children just got too much to also have a puppy and training him as well, so a good Samaritan reached out to our rescue to help find Kruger a good home.

Kruger is a very, very sweet boy, happy boy. Kruger is very sensitive so will need someone that won't raise their voice to him because we feel there was a lot of that in his first home, just be patient and just allows him to be a dog. He’s great with the other dogs BUT does need another younger dog to play with (YOUNGER not older dog). He still has lots of puppy energy but is calm too and wants to be right with his people. If allowed, or if not careful, he could end up with separation anxiety but is fine crated when you leave; again, another reason why he needs another well-adjusted dog to help him not be afraid of being abandoned.

He does not mark, he’s too young and we now have him neutered so he won’t pick up that habit so if that’s the reason you’re passing him by, STOP, because he doesn’t do that.

Kruger actually has some good manners... he’ll sleep at your feet while you're on the computer or next to your chair or couch while you are watching TV,and he’ll follow you everywhere. He does however, tend to get close to your feet when you are walking so no one with limited mobility or who trips easily should apply.

All in all he’s a great boy and will probably be about 17-19 pounds (a small standard) and he will be beautiful! This has to be for life (a 15-17 year commitment)! Remember he’s already been thrown away once!!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
