BIO:

My name is Harley, Hello everyone!!!  I just got to my Foster home and I’m now settled in. I am 2 years old and a smooth coat, black and tan Dachshund. I am a little over weight but working on it for my new figure.  I love to walk on leash and love a good stroll around the yard or in the neighborhood. I love to be under a blankie or curled up next to you.  I was surrendered by my family with 2 other dogs because they were moving and couldn’t take us with them.  (Yea I know how sad for us)

I am potty trained if kept on a schedule and crate trained.  I also don’t bark or growl when someone new walks in the room, only when the other doggies have been barking for a few minutes and then I might give a bark so my voice is heard too. I get along well with the other dogs in the house, get along with the kids also. I really like it when my ears and belly are rubbed because I love the attention. I would love to have my very own Furever family.

I would do great with a fenced in yard, it is really nice not having to be put on a leash to go outside, but I am trained on a leash.

If I sound like the perfect Dachshund for you, please email Cathy at  cathyjbm@aol.com and fill out an application online at www.allamericandachshundrescue.org. I hope to hear from you soon!

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Harley....VA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
