BIO: AADR was contacted by a man that was losing his home and he had to move in with his parents and they would only allow one dog and they had two. Since Lady was the last one they took in, she was the first to go but now she was pregnant. So they reached out to rescue to help find Lady and her little family of 5 when they were born to find homes for them all. Of course we said we would and that’s how Lady came to be with us. She had her babies at the vet clinic and they are all finding homes but this is about Lady and her turn to find that loving “forever” home, and we want this to be her last. She’s been bounced around in her short life and we don’t want that for her any more. She would love a fenced-in yard and to be an only dog so she can get all the attention. She does get along with male dogs a little better than females.

If you are looking for that perfect dog to come home to at the end of a hard day at work or you are home most of the time, Lady would love to be your one and only!

Please only consider Lady if you are ready for a 11-13 year commitment!

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of $45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another $50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Lady number 7......MD

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
