BIO: Elle and Elliot are a bonded pair, where you see one you’ll see the other as you will see in some of the pictures of them. They were surrendered by a lady that was ill and could no longer care for them and she was convinced that they best that she could do for these two would be to try and let us find them a home with another family. While she loved them a lot, she loved them more to let them go.

Now on to the their personalities... they are so very, very sweet and Elliot adores Elle! Many times we’ll see them snuggled together in one doggie bed and if one goes outside through the dog door, the other is not far behind. We are pretty sure that the owner was fairly sick most of the time and probably used puppy-pads so we are working with them on going outside, and they will need to continue to be on a schedule in their forever home.

These two are pretty low key. They don’t bark unless the others get them started and they don’t have a high prey drive. They are just about perfect, if you can use “perfect” and “dachshund” in the same sentence! If you are interested in knowing more about these two, please e-mail their foster mom. They have not been here but only a week so I’m sure more of their personality will emerge as they are here longer. Thank you for thinking of rescue!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
