BIO:

Hi, my name is Hansel! I came to AADR after someone found me abandoned and shaved in rural Alabama. My foster mom says that she can’t imagine why anyone would have just let me go because she says that I am the sweetest boy she has ever seen. In fact, she says that I can be described in two words: SWEET AND CALM. I have one goal in life and that is to be in close proximity to my human as much as I can. If you sit on the couch, I want to sit with you. If you are cooking dinner then I want to lay on the kitchen floor and watch. If you are asleep, I want to be curled up right next to you. I am housebroken and I love to use the doggy door to go in and out. I would rather be inside than out though because of my thick, heavy coat. I am a very quiet boy. In fact, my foster mom sometimes comes looking for me because I’m so quiet. I like kids but bigger ones would be better for me. I am so calm and relaxed that they are afraid that little kids might bother me too much. I love my foster brothers and sisters so another dog in the house would be nice. I really like to go for walks and rides in the car and I do both really well. I am looking for my forever home. Someone that will love and adore me as much as I will them. A home that will make me feel safe and never abandon me again. Please feel free to contact my foster mom if you have any questions. She says that the person that adopts me will not be disappointed!

More about Hansel.....NJ

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
