Hampton and his five siblings were born on June 1, 2015 in a vet’s office in Tennessee, after their mom, Cupcake, was surrendered by a family who couldn’t take care of her anymore.  He sleeps a lot, like all puppies do, but when he is awake he is full of energy and love!  If you loved to be kissed, and you want a puppy to call your own, then Hampton just might be for you!  However, just remember that puppies are a LOT of work, and they really do require someone at home around the clock (aside from errands) to train and take care of them.  If you have little or no experience with owning a puppy, I highly recommend a book called “The Puppy Primer” by Patricia B. McConnell, which you can get from Amazon.  “Dachshunds for Dummies” (on Amazon as well) is also an excellent source of information, even if you already have experience with dachshunds.  So, if you are prepared to own a dachshund puppy, please don’t let his foster location (which is in Columbia, Maryland) stand in your way.  We have a slew of volunteers who will help with transporting your “new best friend” to his forever home (for only an additional nominal cost for a health certificate)!  All of Cupcake’s puppies will be ready for transport starting the weekend of August 8, 2015, so fill out your application now at www.allamericandachshundrescue.org!  If you have ANY additional questions about Hampton, please feel free to email me, Mary Anne, at maryanne70@gmail.com.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
