BIO:

Remington is a sweet boy who was given to a breeder.  He spent a couple years in an outdoor kennel before she realized this sweet little dog deserved a real home and surrendered him to rescue.  Remy lost most of his teeth when he had his dental visit, but the remaining 5 are shiny white and serve him well.  He has no trouble eating dry dog food.

Because Remy spent most of his time outside he is starting from scratch on his house training.  He is making excellent progress and enjoys getting a little treat when he does his business outside.  When nobody is home Remy stays in a confined area and uses a pee pad if needed.  At night he sleeps in a crate and is ready to go out in the morning.  It won't be long before he will be as trained as a dachshund can be.  He would do well with a dog door.

Remy gets along well with the other dogs he's met and enjoys playing and snuggling with them.  He has not been around cats, but can be introduced to some if you need to know how he will do.  Remington is a little shy around new people, but quickly warms up and enjoys attention.  He has not been around young children, but would be fine with children who are old enough to understand that they must be gentle with a small dog.  He does very well on a leash and enjoys taking walks around the neighborhood.  He likes the people that he's met and he's learned to play with the other dogs.  His favorite place is in a lap or snoozing in his favorite dog bed.  Remy is learning very quickly that his life will be filled with good things from now on.
If you are looking for a handsome little buddy, Remington is your guy!

More about Remington.....TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
