BIO:

Max and Mollie came into rescue when their owner could no longer care for them.  They are best friends and must be adopted together.  They both had their teeth cleaned and lost several, but have no trouble eating dry dog food.  They now have bright shiny smiles.  Mollie had a few mammary tumors removed.  It appears that all of the malignancy was removed and she is doing well, but her new owner will need to keep an eye out for lumps.  Max and Mollie are in good health and love to prowl the yard, go on walks, and watch the household activities from their favorite chair.

Max and Mollie are cheerful little dogs who enjoy being around people.  Max is a little more outgoing than Mollie, but they are both very friendly.  They know their names and come eagerly when they are called.  They are both housebroken, though if left for extended periods they will use a pee pad.  They walk well on a leash and enjoy exploring the neighborhood on walks.  They have not been around young children, but would be fine with children who are old enough to understand that they must be gentle with them.  They have not been around cats, but can be introduced to some if needed.  They get along well with other friendly dogs, large and small.

They are pretty quiet, but Max will let you know if somebody comes to the door.  He is happy to greet them when they come in.

Max and Mollie sleep snuggled together in their favorite chair.  They'd love to sleep with their people too.  They have not been crated much because they are so well behaved in the house.
If you are looking for a couple rays of sunshine to add to your family Max and Mollie are for you!

More about Max & Mollie.....TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
