Update, 7-13-15:
The personality of this sweet girl has bloomed in the past two months! She loves to go on bike rides, car rides and walks. Amore is a smart doxie who minds well and is housebroken. She continues to be one who barks when the doorbell rings or hears a strange noise, but that is it! She doesn't bark at everything like two of our own doxies do so she is a pleasure to be with at all times. Amore's personality is adorable and the one who adopts her will have a real winner with this one for a companion.
____________________
Amore was a surrender dog who appears to have had several litters of puppies, but did not come from a puppy mill. We have had her for one week and she is doing super. Our 3 dachshunds and she get along fine and she doesn't mind our next door neighbor cat a bit. Amore is a fast learner and is not a barker just to bark....we all know those doxies J. This little girl will be a great companion for someone who wants only one dog or you already have a house full. She is not aggressive at all so probably would be fine with children above 10. Amore walks well on a leash, likes to go for car rides and not picky where she sleeps; with us she is either in a recliner chair or our bed, however, she would do fine in a crate.
So if you want a loving, laid back dachshund, Amore is the one! You will have a wonderful friend to be by your side.
More about Amore.....MS
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
