BIO:

Little Man came from a home in NC where they said they were moving and couldn’t take him. We are glad because he had been neglected and had bad teeth and a cherry eye. We have gotten him all fixed up and ready for his new, better home. We are working on putting more weight on him and getting some hair to grow back on his tail and back legs.

Little Man is a funny little man... he barks at strangers as if to scare them away because he had never been properly socialized but we are continuing to work on this and we are hoping in time he realizes he has nothing to fear. He is very devoted to his foster mom and dad and doesn’t prefer one over the other, but will just pick a lap. He loves to sleep in the big bed and is good all night long right by your side under the covers.

We’d love to see a home that has a fenced-in yard, will continue to work with him on being more social, and has another dog he can buddy up with, doesn’t matter if it’s male or female, he gets along with both. If you are a fan of the Chiweenies then you’ll be enchanted with this little guy.

Whomever adopts this boy and if he has to be put on a volunteer transport, he will have to be crated because of his fear of strangers at least until he gets to his over night or forever home. Then let him come out on his own and the minute you offer him a treat he’s yours!!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
