BIO:

Liam came from a show/breeder and they decided to retire him.  This dog is drop dead gorgeous and will surely turn heads where ever he goes. His only imperfection is he has some hair loss on one of his ears but trust us no one will notice! He’s learning to walk on a leash and will need further help with that. He’s also learning about going outside and does well when you take him out on a schedule, you just need to be patient with him, remember he was a breeder dog and spent most of his time in a kennel.

Talk about SWEET, that would be Liam. He is shy and will need to gain some confidence but if you approach him slowly and talk sweetly to him he’ll lay down and let you pick him up….he’s still learning all this pet stuff BUT the other day he was actually playing with another dog and he’s showing interest in wanting to be up in the foster mom’s lap.

Liam gets along with all the foster brothers and sisters in the home. We think small kids would make him too nervous so we are saying kids over 12. We think he would benefit from a fenced in yard and another dachshund to learn from. Please don’t let his beauty blind you because you are going to have to be patient with him while he learns to be the pet he should be. Patience and Love will do the trick.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
