BIO:

Dude was turned in with two other dogs when they retired them from their breeding stock. Dude is young so it won’t take him long to forget breeder mentality and be a pet. He’s already wanting to play with toys and trying to play with the other dogs. He’s still shy around new people and that’s going to take time and introducing him to new people and them to offer him a treat.

He’s working very hard on going out to go potty but he still has a ways to go. Don’t expect puppymill dogs to be house broken, expect that you’re going to have to put some work into them but the rewards are so worth it.

He gets along fine here with all the other dogs male and female. We really would like him to go to a home with another young dog so that he can learn from that dog and have someone to play with. If you are looking for another dachshund to add to your family and don’t mind furthering his house breaking skills, then you need to apply for this boy before someone else does. He’s a sweetie and you won’t be sorry, he’s sure to see to that!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
