BIO:

Farley came from a shelter in AL where the family dumped him and another dog when their elderly parents could no longer care for themselves or their dogs. The neglect these dogs suffered bordered on abuse. Farley was 2-3 lbs underweight and had hair loss from possible fleas, horrible teeth and was starved for attention. Well when we were told about them, a member stepped in and took them and we have now fixed Farley's teeth, are starting to put some weight back on him and now it’s up to you to give him the LOVE he so desperately needs and deserves. Please, can you take him into your home and promise him he’ll live out his life with a warm place and plenty of food and love?

Farley was a little rough around the edges when he first came in at house training but he’s gotten it back and if you keep him on a schedule, he’s just fine.  He gets along fine with all the foster brothers and sisters. But when it comes to lap time he’s right in there grabbing his share of the lap. Who could say no to Farley after all?!

Farley is not a barker and would be just fine being alone while you are out doing your thing or he’d be fine with another buddy to cuddle up with. Either way, Farley would be forever grateful if you’d just consider him as your next best friend!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
