BIO:

Sweetie was dumped in a small rural shelter in AL, left with no name and just a note saying “DON’T WANT”. This was one week before Christmas - what a wonderful Christmas present for Sweetie to be unwanted and homeless the week before Christmas. We have a feeling that her owner died and like so many, the families don’t want their deceased family members pets so off they go to the shelters. Since they are owner surrenders they are given NO time and can be walked right to the back and euthanized immediately with no hold time. Luckily for Sweetie, her guardian angel was looking out for her and a friend of our rescue contacted us and we just could not say no to that sweet face! So she got sprung and up she came to TN to spend her Christmas and the best days of the rest of her life.

Her teeth were really bad and when a dental was done she already had some missing but lost most of them when she had her dental. She should start to feel better now without having a mouth full of pain.

Sweetie is completely housebroken and will come to you when she wants out. She loves to sleep on your lap and in a doggie bed in the bedroom at night. This little girl is VERY low key and easy. She just wants good food, a loving family and a warm bed in the twilight of her years. Please find it in your heart to give her that last wish.

Other than her teeth, her eye sight was good, no heart or other organ issues. Consider an older girl as your next family member, please.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
