BIO:

Coco came from Chattanooga, TN as an owner surrender, they didn’t want him any longer. We aren’t sure why he’s a very friendly little boy to people and most dogs. He does have a few male dogs that he doesn’t care for so for that reason we think a home either by himself OR with a female dog would be great for him. He loves lap time and is always looking for someone to be seated so he can crawl in their lap or better yet in their lap under a blanket. He loves to sleep in the big bed under that covers and will stay there as long as you do or longer.

We aren’t sure about cats but we think he’d be ok with them as long as they didn’t run and stood their ground after all it’s all about the chase!

Coco does have a condition that is making him special needs. He has a grade five heart murmur but is NOT on medication and it could be a number of years before he has to. So please don’t let that stop you for adopting this boy. He runs, he plays and he loves to snuggle, what more can you ask for in a new buddy for the new year??

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
