BIO:

Daniel was picked up as a stray in Middle AL and was tested heartworm positive. We are now treating him and he’ll be ready to go to his forever home the middle of Jan. He will come with a 4 mos supply of heartgard to the lucky family that adopts him.

Daniel is a sweet boy we don’t have any clue why he’d be an unclaimed stray but he was. Daniel loves a lap and he just wants you to love him. He loves to be covered up and snoozing on your lap. He gets along with the other fosters in the home both male and female but we are not sure about cats. He does love the fenced in yard so we think he’d really enjoy having one.

He did come to us awfully thin so he needs to put on some weight about a couple lbs but we are feeding him good food so he’s slowly putting on some much needed groceries.

Daniel is not a barker, may or may not bark if the other fosters are but he sure likes that lap time did we already say that? We think he’d also be good as an only dog cause he’s just a laid back kinda guy and would just wait for you to come home to give him the love he craves.

Please consider Daniel!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
