BIO:

bio update 3-4:

This happy guys is Chubbs, one of the friendliest dogs you'll ever meet.  He gets along great with his foster brothers and sister and loves to sit in laps and just hang out.  He also loves running around the yard, so a home with a fenced in yard is preferable.  He has even enjoyed bounding through the snow at his foster home and doesn't mind going out in the rain.  Another favorite hobby of his is burrowing under blankets;  he goes through a detailed ritual to get his blanket just right and it's actually very funny to watch.  Chubbs is completely housebroken and is very good about going out as long as he's kept on a regular schedule.  He would make a great companion/family dog for someone looking for an older but friendly and energetic dog to add to their family.

Chubbs was dumped at a shelter in TN by his family, no reason given. We just for the life of us can’t figure out why cause he’s a great boy, friendly, gets along with other dogs and will be just a great addition to any family. He is very well housebroken, sleeps in a doggie bed or on the couch at night under covers the only thing he doesn’t like is other dogs to disturb him while he’s under the covers for the night snoozing away, he’ll give a warning growl.

Chubbs does like to be outside in the yard on nice days so a fenced in yard would be best for him. He would be fine as an only dog or with another dog. We are not sure about cats but we don’t think so. Small children would not be good either because he might not do well with running and quick movements.

He will bark to let you know someone is at your dog, while he wouldn’t hurt them he would sound the alarm. All in all Chubb’s is a great dog and we are glad we are given the pleasure of finding him his last forever home…will that be yours?

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
