BIO:

Karlie was shelter bound until a family member took her and then reached out to us to take her. Karlie was scared at first but has warmed up and is not just another dachshund in a house of fosters. She loves her human and will follow her everywhere but a little more standoffish to the foster dad. She gets along fine with all the other dogs, male and female but we are not sure about cats. She is puppypad trained and will need a schedule for going outside. She doesn’t like to be left home alone so another dog or someone that is home a lot would be best for her. We think she would do best with a fenced in yard to play in and explore. If you are looking to add a sweet sweet girl to your home then please consider Karlie, you won’t be disappointed with her.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
