BIO

Hi out there my name is Allegra I am new to the website.  First off I want to thank the rescue from the bottom of my heart for saving me from death row. The day that I was saved I was due to be put down. I was turned over to the shelter by my owners who were using me as a breeding machine. When I could not have puppies any longer they had no use for me. Thank you AADR.

My Foster Mommy says that it is now time for me to learn all the things that I missed out on when I was a puppy. I have already learned how to potty outside and use a pee pad when Foster Mommy is at work. I still have a few accidents, but not many. I will sleep in a crate at night without a peep, but I would rather sleep in the big bed. I love to sit in a lap and cuddle close to my person, if a lap is not available I will lay beside you really close. My 2 foster sisters are teaching me how to play chase and all about doggie toys. This leash thing though I am not sure about, but I will get the hang of it soon. I love to follow Foster Mommy around everywhere she goes, she says that I take every step that she takes. That she has to watch out for me because I am so small that she might trip over me. She says that I am just adorable with my hind legs a little longer than the front ones. She says that since I am so small that it would not be a good idea for me to be around young children that they might hurt me by accident that 10 and older would be fine. It would be really great if my new forever home had a fenced in yard, I love to run like the wind and turn in circles.

Foster Mommy says that it is now time for me to find my forever home. She says that I am so friendly, loveable and oh so cute that no one be able to resist me. If you are looking for a new furbaby to add to your family please consider me I would love to have my very own forever home.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
