BIO: Thunder is a man's man. He wants to go huntin and fishin with you and be your best buddy. He'll follow you to the ends of the earth, take him with you everywhere. To heck with the women!! Thunder wants nothing more then to be with his dad. Women need not apply. If the right man comes along adoption fee can be negotiated. Thunder is still looking for that special home, Sir is that you??

Must be dachshund savvy home...perfers a man over a women home, is fine with the foster mom but really likes foster dad!!!

Thunder is a playful 2 year old that was turned over to a shelter due to supposedly snapping at a child that was pulling at his ears.  After doing his "jail time" at the shelter,  he is adjusting great at his foster parents home.  Thunder likes his foster mommy but loves foster daddy.  He tends to love on daddy more.  He is potty trained as long as taken out regularly. He is still working on going in and out of the doggy door. He gets along well with his foster brothers but doesn't play with them much except to take their toy away.  He loves to play with balls and toys...mostly to destroy them like most dachshunds. He is great in the car for rides.  Thunder also does great on the leash.  He loves to go for walks around the neighborhood.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
