Sadly Arden has been returned twice through no fault on his part. He was allowed to run loose and killed a miniature goat. Then he was adopted out to a lady that had no other dogs but worked and he was lonely. So now we are going to find a him a home where he'll be with another dog, male or female he's not fussy and a fenced in yard for him to enjoy.

He does have the beginning of a cataract in right eye but that does not affect his ability to get around but we are listing him as "special needs". Please consider giving Arden his last home, we are looking at this as being the 3rd time is a charm.

House broken, crate trained and gets along with all dogs what more can you ask for!!

Hi, I'm Arden! I was found on the side of the road in TN and my savior took me to an animal clinic. They tried, with no luck, to find my owner or a new home for me, so rescue was contacted. My foster mom says someone gave up or is missing out on a sweet, sweet dog!

I'm a pretty laid-back guy and I love a good long nap in the sun in the middle of the afternoon. I live in a busy apartment complex and am doing very well with the busy environment. I've pretty much gotten used to a potty schedule and only every once in a while will I have an accident. I am extremely quiet and I don't bark at passersby in the hallway or outside of the apartment building. I'm not phased by other dogs, large or small, but I don't think I'd do well with children under ten years old. Foster mom says that I am a bit overweight from my previous home, but we are working on getting me back to slim and trim with diet food and short, daily walks. One thing potential adopters should know about me is that I have very limited experience with men, but I am trying to learn that human males are not a threat. I'm still a bit skittish around my foster mom, but I have begun warming up to her, letting her take me outside, feeding me and taking me on walks. With a little TLC, I think I would be the dog for you if you'd like a dachshund that's loyal, laid-back and not much of a barker. If a couple were to adopt, the man would have to take it slow with me. How 'bout it, am I the pup for you?

A note from my foster mom... "This boy is beautiful, don’t miss out on him, he won’t be available long!  Oh, one thing we did forget to mention, we think at one time he might have injured one eye because he has the beginning of a cataract, but it doesn’t bother him and it shouldn’t you.  Don’t be afraid to contact us if you have more questions, but most importantly, don’t hesitate because this boy won’t stay long in foster care!"

More about Arden....TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
