Rascal is a delightful little boy who will make a wonderful addition to any family. After living in his home for close to a year Rascal and his other companions found themselves left behind when the owner moved out.
Rascal is a very handsome red smooth estimated to be about a year old and weighing 8 pounds. Rascal also has a red nose to match his fur and beautiful almond shaped eyes. Rascal is just a love bug with a wonderful temperament. He has adjusted so well into his foster home it’s as though he has grown up there. Rascal is great around all size dogs especially another dachshund. Since Rascal has never been alone he should be placed in a home with another small dog, preferably a dachshund, for cuddling.
Rascal is working on being house broken and accustomed to a doggie door. He loves being outside following new scents, chasing leaves or just lounging in the sun. He loves to be held and to cuddle in a warm lap. At night he will want to sleep in the bed with you snuggled really close, but that’s after he gives his goodnight kisses. There are no cats in Rascal’s foster home so cat free would be necessary. Rascal has not been around children that we know of but feel he would do alright with older children.
Rascal is a healthy little boy who has recently been neutered and brought current on his vaccines. He is on heartworm and flea preventative. He had one retained baby tooth which had to be pulled. Rascal is crate trained.
If you can offer a forever home and would like a lifetime of unconditional love then consider adopting Rascal. Please e-mail his foster parents at oscarbcsg@sprintmail.com or fill out the on-line adoption application and specify you are interested in Rascal. Preference will be given to North Carolina applicants but applications from South Carolina and Virginia will also be considered.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
