Oh why do foster mom’s have to be such pests? She took me outside told me she wanted to get some pictures of me so I could get “adopted”. Why? I don’t like that ugly thing in front of her face! Since I’m so easy going I went ahead and played along. I really like the yard but I like it better if you’re out here with me. I like smelling the breeze, the sunshine and the pretty flowers. So please give me a fenced in yard so I can work with you or walk with you in the yard. I do ok on walks and with a leash but I like it better if you carry me after all I’m the princess can’t you tell from my pictures? I like the other dogs here or am fine by myself, all I really care about is when you are here and you are sitting down that I’m in your lap. I promise I won’t hide the remote!
Ginger#8 came in from NY with 2 other dachshunds that were taken to the vet to be euthanized and the vet wouldn’t do it. The owner or the family member said that they were going to the pound then. Lucky for Ginger, Cindy and Marble the vet tech that worked there reached out to us and we took them all in. Due to their lack of care Ginger#8 lost a lot of her teeth but as soon as they were out she felt so much better; we feed semi-soft dog food and yearly dentals will help to save the rest of the teeth she has. Ginger#8 is a sweet sweet little girl, she came to us a little over-weight but we’ve gotten her down to a good weight so she should not be over fed and put her at risk for back injury. She pays the other fosters no mind, preferring her human or being by herself. We think she’d be great as an only dog or another dog and do just fine. We don’t know about cats. We think kids over 10 that know how to treat animals and show her love she’d be just fine with little kids with running would probably make her too nervous. Please consider giving Ginger#8 a last forever home where she won’t have to worry about someone taking her to the pound or vet to be euthanized.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
