Sammy has now been given back twice through no fault of his own, families adopted him that didn't think through the commitment of having a dog for the next 10 yrs and as their lifesyle changed they didn't want to make room for this boy and instead opted to give him back, while we appreciate them not dumping this dog at a shelter more thought should have been given to keeping him, SO with that said the next family HAS to be the last! This dog is too nice of dog to be shifted around from home to home. If you are looking for a great dog then please consider Sammy #4
My name is Sammy and I am looking for my forever home. I love to play and race around the yard. I am a very smart boy! I know sit, wait, come, quiet, and hurry (when you tell me this I will go to the potty very quickly). I have been to known to shake a hand or two as well as give high-fives. I love to curl up on the couch with you and watch tv. I will go in my “house” at night to sleep or also like it if you let me have a sleepover. I am a typical doxie explorer outside in my fenced in yard. I also like to go on walks and do well on a leash. I get along with both male and female dogs but have never gotten to experience those things they call cats before. I have never had an accident indoors which is great!!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
