BIO:

Hi my name is Peanut and I am the most cuddly, sweet shadow anyone could ever want.  I may be 6 years old, but I still have tons of good life left in me!  My Foster Mommy got my Foster Sister when she was 6 and that was 10 years ago!  I have a very pretty coat.  My base color is red with chocolate on top and some white on my chest, face and even on one of my toes!  I am still a little bit overweight, but we are working on that.  My Foster Mommy is taking me on short walks to help me get into shape.

I am enjoying the nicer weather and I like to walk around outside and sniff the air.  I am always happy but, please don’t put me in the crate, I am very unhappy in there.  I won’t bother anything while you are away; I just want to sleep on the couch or even in the big bed until you get home.  However, you might want to keep the bathroom trash out of my reach.

My Foster Mommy loves how easy going I am and she thinks I’m the best bed partner ever!  At bed time she puts me in the big bed with her and I snuggle next to her under the covers all night long. During the day, I follow her from room to room and when she sits, I make sure I am the first one to sit with her!  I don’t mind the other doggies or kitties in the house and they don’t mind me.

When the sun is shining, I like lying at the front door and drinking it in.  When people walk or drive by I just watch them.  There is no need to bark like my Foster Sisters do!  Those silly girls bark at everything!

So, if you are looking for a sweet, cuddly, easy going guy, I am your man!  I love to give and receive kisses.  Please contact my Foster Mommy if you think I will fit well into your family.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
