BIO:
Meisha has now been returned to us twice because neither adopter gave her the chance to settle in, not her fault but theirs for expecting a perfect dog their is no such thing so please if you are not sure please do not apply..... she has been no problem with the foster home she has been in they have a 10 yr old child and a doggie door with other dogs and she hasn't not had an issue but they didn't give up on her either.
Meisha is a pretty little lady with beautiful silky ears. She walks well on a leash and enjoys strolls around the neighborhood. Meisha is very well behaved in the house and if she can't get outside she will use a pee pad but prefers going out to potty on the grass. She likes to watch out the window for bunnies and ground hogs or lay in her dog bed with a chew toy. She sleeps happily in a dog bed or with her people. Meisha is wary of new people and new dogs and will bark at them. Once she gets to know you she is a real snuggler. She barks and chases cats, but loses interest very quickly, so a cat that will stand its ground would be okay with her. She has not been around young children(10 and over that know how to respect a dogs space), but would be okay with them as long as they are old enough to understand that she will need time to get to know them. Meisha would be happiest in a quiet home without a lot of new people coming and going. She would be fine as an only dog or with other friendly dogs.
If you are looking for a pretty little friend, Meisha is your girl!
More about Meisha...NC
Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
