Updated BIO:
Now that Mindy has been with us a few weeks, her personality has came out in full and what a doll she is! I guess since in puppy mill her whole 7 yrs she had no chance to be a puppy. Thus now she is and having a grand time. So if you want a dog who is like a puppy, she is it and you won't have the puppy issues of trying to housebreak (she is for the most part) and not chewing on everything.
Mindy was rescued from a puppy mill where she came to AADR with no teeth! Poor little girl; obviously she wasn’t a spoiled dachshund. Of course she is getting that treatment now and she is one happy little dog. She is so cute with her tongue hanging out one side and it doesn’t bother her a bit. Mindy just wants love and companionship. She follows me where I go and whatever room I am in for any length of time she lays next to me and sleeps. And despite no teeth, she scarfs down her dry food that we wet down with warm water.
She gets along fine with our three dachshunds, but not too interested in our cat. However, she doesn’t chase him or bother him. She will let out a little growl and he just looks at her.
Mindy is housebroken which was a nice surprise. She likes to investigate areas of the house and this probably because she is getting to be a dachshund now (hunter) instead of just a caged animal. She is so cute to watch! She is not a barker just to bark, but will when she wants out of her cage. In addition, Mindy rides well in the car. I think the reason for that is she feels safe & secure being with a loving person. She just wants to be close.
Mindy is a sweet doxie who will steal your heart. She obviously has not had a great life so give her one now. She will give you more love then you could ever give her!
