Daisy was an owner surrender to a very high kill shelter in Northern Alabama. Daisy belonged to an older lady and she wasn’t able to walk Daisy like she should have been. We saw that when we got her and saw she was overweight. We have her on a strict diet and she’s losing weight and getting down to where she should be and getting a waist.

With that being said, Daisy is a very shy girl, we don’t think the owner had much company and she wasn’t used to other dogs. Slowly she is coming around but it will take time for her to adjust again. She really is a sweet girl and will climb in your lap with some coaxing.

Daisy does have a funny habit of chasing her tail. She appears to be playing with herself when she does that.

We think a fenced-in yard and another dog for Daisy to learn from would be very helpful for her. If you are looking for a challenge to bring her into the world of being a pampered pet and a social girl than you’ve found the right girl. Please contact her foster mom for more details.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
