Hello,  this is Elfie here!

I had traveled for two days to reach my new foster home.  I liked driving in the car.  I do super, I don't really need a crate.   Give me a nice warm blanket, and I will cover myself and snuggle right in.  We stopped for potty breaks and with my harness and leash on I loved the small walks, but would have liked them to be much longer.

I like my foster parents, they are really cool.   WOW what a busy place.  They have two dachshunds.  I thought I had a lot of energy and love to play, I think I've met my match. 

They have this fury orange and white thing.  It's a CAT.  I have never been around one of these things, it is huge.  It is bigger than me, his name is Alex, he didn't care for me much, I would bark at him. He left me know who's boss so now I just ignore him and he ignores me.

I almost fainted.  This big cage, OH my there is a bird. Yep his name is Sammy.  I barked at him, he said “stop it” I guess he didn't find me very threatening.

My foster family has grown kids. They have grandchildren which I really like their ages 3 to 11 years old.  They love me and I really love them.  They pay so much attention to me, I just suck it all up.

My foster mom Celeste just thinks I am adorable.  My foster dad thinks I am so soft. I love to snuggle, love attention and love to play.  I am not picky, I want to find a warm loving, kind home,  I'd like to be part of the family not just a pet.  I want to snuggle, go for walks, play and just be part of.  If you have any questions about me, please email my foster mom Celeste, she loves to talk to everyone.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
