Hi! My name is Aaron and my foster mommy says I’m a big teddy bear. She says my fur is the softest she has ever felt. I am just learning to play, run, and go for walks. I didn’t get to do any of these things as a little puppy because I was in a cage a lot. I’m a little timid at first so please come down to my level and let me come to you. Once I get to know you I will love you and your family forever. My favorite thing to do is cuddle with you. I don’t just lay beside you I put my whole body on you. I really like to cuddle and lean on you. I don’t bark which is great! When I’m happy you will know because I will make a cute groaning sound. I have three doggies I play with at my foster home and get along well with them. I am also great with older children. My foster mommy has three girls and I love cuddling with them and watch them get on the bus every day. Please think of giving me a forever home. I promise to be a best friend forever.
Love, Aaron

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
