Being Fostered in Albany, New York

Coco was surrendered with his brother Rusty5 and his sister Honey4. Coco was severely overweight when he was surrendered and has lost about 6 lbs. He has a little more to lose but is doing great on his diet. The former owners locked all three doxies in a bathroom much of the time, but it hasn't made Coco anti-social at all. Coco is very sweet and loves to lick and lick until asked to stop! He does bark when he wants attention, food, sees a new dog or person (it just takes him a few minutes to get to know you) or if you have something he wants. He walks on a leash and does well in a fenced-in yard. He sleeps in the big bed and wakes up every morning at 5:30a.m. to go out and then to eat his breakfast. He is up to date on all his shots and is on Interceptor and Advantix. He is a sweet, loving, loyal and dependable friend and would do well in a home with other doxies.
COCO does have a little fatty tumor on the top of his head that is not more than that a fatty tumor and the vet didn't feel it was important to remove it so we feel it adds character to him.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

More about COCO

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
