Oscar has been in his new foster home for 2 weeks (12/21) and what a doll he is! Oscar is doing so good and sure loves his new home way better than the shelter he was rescued from. And to say how much he appreciates it, he wags his tail nonstop, wiggles his butt and smiles at us with his missing bottom front tooth. Oscar gets along with our two doxies and our cat plus our neighbor cat who comes to visit. He is doing great with potty training since he was in cage/shelter he forgot going outside. We have him wear a wrap when we are away and he has no problem with it. He actually spreads his two back legs thinking he is helping us putting it on him. Oscar will just steal your heart with his loving grateful attitude. The white on each side of his nose looks gray in a picture but it is white which matches his white chest. His eyes that are light brown as well as his nose are gorgeous which too is difficult to see in a picture. He has a torn out portion in his left ear (bottom) that probably is the result of him being breed in a puppy mill. This just adds to his personality with his missing teeth-“I might not be a perfect doxie, but I am a super loving cutie and as we all know, beauty doesn’t last forever so it is what inside that counts.”
The love of this little guy will melt your heart and he is a doxie that will make any home much brighter!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
