BIO:

Bella was rescued along with her brother, Brinkley from a irresponsible breeder by Animal Control. She was in heat at the time and her brother not neutered; both just running down a street. Thankfully she was rescued & now has been spayed. She was such a trooper with keeping her diapers on until her spay.

Bella is such a sweetie who has such adoring eyes. She is happy to lay in her own bed or in your lap, she is not picky, but very loving. She is pretty attached to her brother and follows his lead, however, she stands her ground if he tries to take her food. They are comical to watch.

Bella gets along with her foster doxies who are male & female. She respects their areas and wants to be friends. She would probably get along well with the cat in the home, but since her brother doesn’t appear to like him, she will bark & chase as well. However, her sweet disposition tells me she likes cats.

Bella is making progress in her housetraining. She has been using the puppy pads a lot for peeing, but not for the other. In time I believe she will improve as she wants to please. She will make a great addition to any home who wants a sweet, loving dachshund and for more love & joy adopt her brother Brinkley, too!

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
