She's hard get a picture of because she always wants to be on me lol

She does great with the other dogs and is even fine when she sees cats outside. She likes to lay on you or right beside you under the covers on the couch and same at night in bed :) she is totally house trained. I don't even crate her when I leave. She is a huge sweetheart.

WOW, what a sweetie!

Abby was given up because her owner had surgery and just couldn’t take care of her and Ginger.  She is a beautiful dappled Piebald that has one very pretty partial blue eye.

Did we mention sweet, loving and just wants to be with you and in your lap?

She gets along with all the fosters here male and female would definitely need a fenced yard to potty in and just enjoy the outside but of course she wants you with her. She’s doing very well with the housebreaking. Doesn’t need to be crated when you go away, no destruction. Not a barker unless others are barking. We think she’d be fine alone but definitely likes the company of the other dogs. Very low key.

Did we mention that she is a standard dachshund? She is at a perfect weight right now at 19 lbs. Should not loose or gain any more.

Her coloring is rare, she’s considered a dappled piebald but would be called a dapple color. In my 13 yrs of fostering I’ve never seen a color like hers before.

Abby is looking for that special home so she can be home for the holidays!!

More about Abby #2...GA

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
