BIO:
Jack loves toys!!! Squeaky toys he won't destroy them he just likes to play with them.
Jack #7 was dumped at a kill shelter in AL and his owner who dumped him said he didn’t want to watch him die. He was in horrible shape. Thin by about 3 lbs and horrible teeth but we took him in and started feeding him good dog food and we put the lbs back on him and his coat started to shine up and then we took him for a dental where he lost 17 teeth but he feels so much better and acts better. He is low maintenance, just wants his meals and a nice doggie bed to sleep in. He gets along with all the other dogs but we don’t know about cats. He’d be fine with kids 12 and over and maybe younger. He is house broken and can be left out in the house when you are gone. He walks well on a leash.
We love for him to go to a home with a fenced in yard and another dachshund to keep him company. Gotta love those frosty faces and low energy dogs. They just want love just like all of us.
Please consider adopting this older distinguished gentleman.

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
