BIO:

My name is Tasha: AADR took me in when my owner was trying to give me away on the streets of Brookville FL on September 29, 2013.   My birthday is August 10, 2012.   I am a playful and happy little dachshund.   I play with my foster siblings all the time, especially outside, as we have lots of energy.  I like taking naps on the rug or back of the coach and being held and cuddled on my foster moms lap.   She says I’m her “little shadow”!   All I have to do to keep busy is: play, eat, potty, and snuggle to make me happy.  I bark some and have no food or fear aggressions.  I do have some submissive urination (at times), but I think as I get older and more comfortable in my Forever Home, this should resolve itself.  I do scar easily so be gentle with me as much as possible.   I am looking for my forever home; a family who will give me lots of love, take me for walks, cuddle and play with me and always keep me safe.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
