BIO:
Please consider adopting our itty bitty teeny weenie Niki! When she is not completing amazing acts of daring and risk, like stealing your favorite seat or saving you from the monster that lives in the vacuum, all she wants is to be loved. She may have had a rough start in life but she is quickly adjusting to a world that loves her. She will do best in a home with children above 10 as quick movements still startle her a bit but she does wonderfully in her foster home with her two doxie sisters and Aussie brother. She has a great time each weekend going to the farmers market with foster mum but is a bit skittish with men at first. She will be an ok single dog but suffers from a bit of separation anxiety so having another pet at home with her would alleviate a lot of that.
If you have an extra pocket to spare and are looking for a pup that will love you with all of her heart and who will gladly follow you around then little Niki is going to be the perfect match for you.
More about Nikki...OH
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
