BIO:

Scooter's story starts with his longtime owner passing away and he was left with her nephew who didn't want him.  He put a chain around Scooters neck and left him outside for months.  A local women took him in, but worked 12 hour shifts, so Scooter pottyed on the floor.  This lead to being crated those 12 hours, which lead to Scooter pottying in his crate. After 4 months, she knew this wasn't good for him to be crated that long and turned him over to a foster willing to try to find him a good home.  Scooter was adopted by a family that didn't have a fenced in yard or doggy door and worked.  They couldn't get him to not potty in the house when at work.  Now, Scooter is back with his foster family that has a fenced in yard and doggy door and the accidents have stopped.  His foster mom is home most the time and when gone, he can be left in the crate for a few hours, but not long periods at a time.  He is a wonderful dog.  Super loving to both women and men.  Plays with his foster bother and sister great.  Loves snuggling on his humans.  Scooter is a precious beggar for his treats, on his back legs clapping his paws together....it's absolutly adorable.  Our wish for Scooter is to find a loving home with a fenced in yard with a doggy door or someone home alot to let him run and play and potty outside in a fenced yard. He would do great with other dogs or okay as a only dog to be someone's companion.

=============== Information for all dogs/adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Scooter..DE

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
