BIO:  Reese came from a high kill shelter in AL. We were told she was dachshund and 5 mos old but when we got her it was clear to see she was mixed but we are not quite sure mixed with what, maybe Yorkie and she is about a year old? She has rather long legs and her beautiful ears but she is cute in her own way. She loves to snuggle on the couch while you are watching tv or reading. Gets along well with the other fosters and is doing very well with housetraining. She was a little skittish at first but after being here for a while she’s learn we are not here to harm her. She does seem to prefer the foster dad over the foster mom but is fine with both.  This sweet little girl really needs a home of her own, can you be that home, please consider her if you’re looking for a sweet girl but not necessarily a pure bred.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Reese #3...FL

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
