BIO:  Janie as a sad story to tell and we are pretty sure her life has not been the best before coming into AADR. She was pulled from a shelter in NC and adopted out, after a couple years we were contracted by the adopter that Janie had to be returned to us due to the adopter’s health. We brought her back here to TN to see what we could do to help Janie find that once again forever home. What we have found is a dog that wore her teeth down from chewing on a cage so we are sure before she came to us the first time that she was a puppymill dog which would explain her lack of socialization. Janie is a wonderful and beautiful girl she just takes her time learning to trust you. She does fine with other dogs, don’t know about cats, seems to care more for the foster mom than the foster dad. She likes to play with toys but doesn’t know how to play with the other fosters. Poor Janie just needs a family to love her, please please help Janie find the last forever home she’ll ever need. She will take some work but she’s so sweet and kind and gentle.

must have a fenced in yard for Janie!

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
