BIO: Penny came to us from Metro AC in Nashville, TN where she was picked up as a stray but had puncher wounds to her neck. It is believed that she was attacked by a large dog. She was at AC for over a month while her wounds healed and she was spayed and released to rescue.
What we do know about Penny is that she is a sweet sweet girl that deserves nothing but the best of everything from here on out because before this we don’t think she had a good life. She is very submissive when she first meets you but as you continue to show her kindness her sweet personality starts to shine through.
She is working very hard on housetraining. Did well at the one foster home that had a fenced yard and doggie door. She is now with another foster home that will continue to work with her. She gets along with all dogs male and female but we are not sure about cats.
Due to Penny’s poor care before she came to us she did lose quite a few teeth when we gave her a dental but that won’t stop her from eating hard food once her mouth heals nor will it stop her from loving you.
We would like for her to have a fenced in yard and another dachshund to keep her company while you are away. A doggie door would be great but is not a requirement. Please give Penny #3 the home she deserves, she’ll return the gratitude ten fold!
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.
We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.
If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
