BIO:  In 2013, Billie was adopted by a childless couple who had a baby within a year.  During that time, they did not socialize Billie to babies or toddlers.  The grandparents then raised Billie for two years until their failing health caused them to return him to AADR.  Billie is now looking for his true forever home!

Billie is extremely friendly and has plenty of kisses that he will readily share.  His tail is constantly wagging ... and what a BEAUTIFUL fan tail it is!  He is LOVING the fenced-in yard and begs to go outside to chase squirrels and geckos.  He is currently on a diet to lose 2-3 lbs. since it is sooooo important for a doxie to not be overweight in order to avoid future back problems.  Billie is not real happy about being on a diet so his foster mom is adding shredded carrots or frozen green beans to his kibble so his tummy feels fuller.

This cutie will not be available for long, so fill out your application ASAP.  Then you can contact his foster mom (Meg) for more details on Billie Boy, Billie Boy, Charming Billie!

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
