Skippy was saved in the nick of time from a local shelter. He is a neutered male approximately 10 years old. A mini red dachshund weighing about 10-lbs. Skippy does not get along with all the other doxies in his foster home. For some reason, they seem to pick on him. He should not go to another home with an alpha dog. He does get along with the laid back dachshunds that seem to ignore him. He also does not like cats or rabbits. He wants to chase them. Skippy is a very sweet, sweet little boy and needs a home that will love him. He loves attention and likes to be held. He would do fine in a home with older kids as he likes to jump sometimes. If you are intersted in adopting Skippy please fill out an application and mark Skippy as your favorite Doxie!

Not Good with Cats

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
