Surrendered by a breeder, Rhoda is learning for the first time in her 9 young years, what life in a loving home is really all about and she is in heaven! She is such a sweet and loving pup and just wants to be with her human at all times…preferably in their lap! But who can blame her? If I had spent the last 9 years in a crate, I would too! She sleeps in her crate but must be in the room with you or she becomes very distressed. She also enjoys sleeping in the big bed but since she’s still working on potty training, we think it’s best if she sleeps in her crate. Potty training is going well but she needs to be kept on a schedule. Rhoda is a very smart dog and is quickly learning her manners. She very much wants to please but is still unsure at times whether she is in trouble or being praised. If you give this sweet girl a chance, I promise she will melt your heart and make you glad you gave her a forever home. More will be posted as she progresses in her new and improved lifestyle!
More about Rhoda #3...AL
Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
