BIO:

Coco came to us as an owner surrender, she came in with Tyson #2, he is her son but we did feel it was best to separate them. Coco is fearful of new situations so whomever decides to adopt her would need to go slow but in no time she warms up and is fine with all the family. This is because she was not properly socialized when she was little but she’s not too old to learn to love people. She is a beautiful girl inside and out. She loves to cuddle and will lay in your lap for hours if you let her.  She is also content to watch you from her spot on the couch if you are busy around the house.

Coco came to us a little on the heavier side so we are working to get her weight down and she’s looking pretty good now. A girls gotta have that waist!

She will sleep all night in the big bed even if you want to sleep in. When she gets up she immediately goes out and does her business.  Coco also walks well on a leash but again just needs to be socialized with strangers, an easy fix.

Coco gets along great with all the foster boys and girls here and will even share a lap.

Our wish for Coco is that she have a fenced in yard and someone that will continue to work with her on socialization, with that she’ll be the perfect little lady for anyone.

If you can give her a home like that please fill out an application or if you need more info please contact her foster mom.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Coco #4...AL

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
