BIO:  Hugo has come a long way from the scared little boy he was when he was picked up from the breeder lady. He has been in foster care for a while now and is a happy little boy. Gets along fine with the other dogs and uses the doggie door like a champ. He would do best in a quiet home, with another dog or two. If you think you could be that home please e mail his foster mom and put in an application to adopt, he'll give you years of love and devotion and isn't that what we all want and deserve?

Hugo was turned over to rescue by a breeder in AR who was going out of business due to health issues. He needs an understanding adopter and one willing to help him be the pet he was meant to be.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
