BIO:

Tara2 found herself homeless along with Bella when their owner died and the family didn’t want them. Lucky for them the caregiver took them then contracted rescue to see if we would find them a home.

Tara is a very easy going girl, she loves to sleep on the foster daddy’s lap and follow him everywhere. She’s fine with foster mom but just prefers the foster dad in the family.

Tara2 gets along with young and old fosters alike. She lets them do their thing and she does hers.

She is not a barker and prefers to watch while the world goes by but will get excited when it’s bed time as she does like to sleep in the big bed but will also bed down for the night on the couch if not invited into the big bed.

We think it would be best if she had a fenced in yard but would be fine by herself or with another dog.

We don’t think small children would be good but kids over 12 we think would be fine. Please consider giving Tara 2 her last forever home.

If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If they choose transporting by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures.

We are now approved to adopt/foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 35.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 35.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.

To understand the adoption process through AADR please visit the Adoption Information.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.

More about Tara #2...TN

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
