BIO: “Amber” is a sweet little girl with lots of the great characteristics of a Dachshund. She is a mixed breed with light beagle traits. She is brave, intelligent and loves to play. She was rescued from a parking lot on a cold day and within 2 hours of being introduced to her foster brother (a cocker poodle) and sister (a Rottweiler), she was already at home and finding her place in the pack. Amber is estimated to be a little over a year old.
Amber is eager to make new friends once she understands there is no threat. She is a little shy when meeting a new person and will give “alarm” barks but stands down very quickly if an alpha (human) is present. Other than that she is not very vocal.
She loves to snuggle and will squirm her way into your heart as well as your nest (bed). She is quite the comedian and wriggles when she is happy. She is house trained and should be easy to crate train if needed.
Amber likes to observe other dogs and will quickly learn behavior. She will need a person who can show her positive behavior traits and reward her for success by giving her lots of hugs and praises. She is learning the joys of playing with toys and now likes to play a gentle game of tag or tug of war.
Amber would do best in a home with a full time companion. She is very social and affectionate. If you are looking for a great companion dog who is intelligent, loving and gentle, then this girl is for you.
If you have questions about this dog please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above. If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, there will be an additional $35 Fee for the required Health Certificate.
We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are now approved to adopt into the state of NH! We will have to charge to health certificate fees one to get him/her to the quarantine facility and one when they leave after two days.
Please Read Before You Adopt to learn more about transportation options. If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please Read Before You Adopt and Fill Out an Application. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or up and down the West Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well for now please look for dogs on your coast.
Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.
