BIO:
Elvis is looking for that perfect home with a soft lap to sit on and a warm snugly bed to sleep in. He is a very happy boy and although he came from a breeder, he is a very social boy. He seems to be smiling all day long and you can see the happiness in his eyes and in the little grin he wears as he plays and wrestles with the other dogs. He likes to be held and really wants to catch up on all of the loving he has missed during his time as a breeder dog. We are currently working on house training and he is making progress but since he has only been with AADR for 1 week it will take a little time. He is crate trained and not a bad barker. He loves my small granddaughters and has been good with them and is good with the other dogs as well. Elvis longs to be special in someone's eyes. Is that special person you? Are you the rescuer Elvis has been waiting for? Please contact me if you would like to know more about Elvis and for updates on his progress. As I know more about Elvis, I will update his bio.
We will not adopt into the state of CT or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are working hard to get approved to bring dogs into the state of NH and until that happens we can not adopt to anyone in that state either.
More about Elvis 2..IL
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
