BIO:

Hey...my name is Blue Eyes and I am looking for a forever companion to spend the rest of my life with. Since I am in a hurry to find this person, I am going to tell you some of the good things about myself. First of all, I am very handsome and have very nice blue eyes, thus the name Blue Eyes. They are actually partially brown and partially blue but it seems the blue is what humans see when they look into my eyes. This eye color just happens with dapples sometimes. Anyway I see perfectly and that is what is most important about my eyes! In addition I have a nice silver dapple coat that matches my eyes quite nicely, if I do say so myself. I am about five years old and have previously been in the care of a breeder. They did not seem to notice how handsome I am or how pretty my eyes are at all. They only gave me food and expected me to be quiet and help them make money by producing beautiful little puppies. When they didn't need me anymore, they took me to the shelter! Can you believe that? As handsome as I am! I was in shock! Luckily my story does not end there. One day while I was sitting in the shelter with my brother Elvis (we were turned in together), someone came to see us from All American Dachshund Rescue. She made a couple of phone calls and the next thing I knew we were getting busted out of doggy jail. She took us home with her and in a couple of days we had gone to the vet and gotten our vacs and had our teeth cleaned. Our luck had changed! The nice lady is a foster mom with AADR and she took Elvis and I into foster care to wait for the perfect family to come along and adopt us! I am seeking a home where my good looks and happy attitude will be appreciated. I love humans and love to get attention so I could be your new best friend if you would just give me a chance. I do love to run and take long walks while I check out the world around me so I am looking for a person who has lots of energy and loves to be outside and go for walks. We could have such a good time!

There is one little thing I need to share...a little bit of information I am a little bit embarrassed about. I never knew dogs were supposed to live inside and I am trying to learn about potty etiquette and to go potty outside and not inside. Even though I am working very hard on this it is going to take a little while for me to remember all of these new "house rules". None the less, I am so happy to be free and on my way to a new life. If you want to share you life with me, contact my foster mom and she can tell you even more good stuff about me!

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
